A spear against eight hundred. A warrior whose hand won’t release the sword. Three men who cut through an enemy camp for one cup of water. If those images do not stop you in your tracks, you are reading the wrong stories.

I’m Amakri, and on the World Cafe Live Show I bring you into my study to sit with the mighty men of David from 2 Samuel 23. I keep circling one line that changes everything: “they are under your protection.” When you come under the covering of true authority, your growth becomes steadier, your courage becomes more consistent, and your future starts to feel possible. We look at why these men are forever tied to David’s name, and how leadership influence works like an atmosphere people can breathe in.

Along the way, we talk about biblical leadership, faith, loyalty, mentorship, and the hidden power of stories. David’s personal history of defeating a lion, a bear, and Goliath becomes more than history; it becomes a standard that strengthens the people around him. I also ask the uncomfortable questions: whose path are you studying, what future are you aiming for, and are you willing to pay the price to step into that kind of influence?

If you want Christian motivation that is rooted in scripture and real-life application, press play. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs courage, and leave a review so more people can find the show.

I am I'm bringing you into my study today. Something I want to share with you. Hi. Okay, I need to start this this way. Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, good everything. Wherever you are listening to me, welcome to the World Cafe Live Show. This is the space where we come in to lean on one another's experience to forge a positive path. Now, stories are one thing that fascinates me. I believe it fascinates everybody. As in, if you're a human being, stories will fascinate you. They make you travel your imagination and wonder and the possibilities. Growing up, there was this story in the Bible that always got to me. You know, even in Sunday school, when we talked about it, the mighty men of David. A thought hit me when I was coming, you know, into the space today to talk about it. And that thought was, he is under your protection. They are under your protection. David was such an enigmatic figure, person in the history of man. Yes, King David, that he he practically earned a name, the man after God's own heart. That is to say, he grew his relationship with God to the point that he became a reference. So everybody under him, or those who came under him that walked with him, came under his protection. You know, when you are under the protection of an authority, it means your prosperity is sure. You know, one thing that helps prosperity, or one thing that helps people to grow is protection, security. So I'm going to read certain scriptures and I'm going to stop in between the mighty men of David. And I kept wondering why were they called the mighty men of David? They drew from the might of David. They drew from the consciousness David created as a result of his relationship with God. And that consciousness strengthened them. Wow. So I'm going to read from 2 Samuel 23 from verse 8. I'll tell you as we're going, I'll tell you why these scriptures fascinate me and the story. Some of the names I beat. So when I'm talking, excuse my pronunciation and all of that. I said, These be the names of the mighty men who David had, the Tacomanite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains. The saying was Adino the Eggs knight. He lifted up his spear against eight hundred whom he slew at one time. He lifted rather he lifted up his spear. Eight hundred. So imagine the strength to lift a spear against eight hundred. That is a dimension that even the Marvel Universe cannot comprehend. These guys went into the David or Davidic dimension, if I must use that word. You know, David slew Goliath. But before that, he slew a bear and a lion, beasts. So that is to say, he grew this energy, this relationship that took him into a dimension that he was so empowered he was not scared. He knew whose he was and who, as in whose he was, and who he was. So these men tapped into it, in my opinion, you know, lifting up a spare against 800. I'm trying to imagine the kind of energy that has been harnessed to hold not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not ten, not a hundred, but eight hundred. Wow. And after him was Eliazar, the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away. He rose and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand cleave unto the sword, and the Lord wrought a great victory that day.

SPEAKER_01

Now listen, this guy had his hand stuck to his weapon.

His hands were, they were weary, or his hand was weary, but he couldn't let go, got stuck, and he continued that way. Excuse me. Literally, he became, or the weapon became his extension. If you understand what I mean by that. That is to say, he couldn't let go, and the weapon refused to leave his hands until justice was served. Wow, what a dimension these guys were walking in. See he arose and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary and his hand claved unto the sword, and the Lord wrought the great victory that day. And the people returned after him only to spoil one man. And after him was Shama the son of Agi, the Harite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop where was a piece of ground full of lentils, and the people fled from the Philistines, but he stood in the midst of the ground and defended it and slew the Philistines, and the Lord wrought a great victory. And three of the thirty chief went down and came to David in the harvest, the harvest time, unto the cave of Adulam, and the troop of the Philistines pitched in the valley of Rephim. And David was then in an hold. This is King James' version I'm reading. I mean, I'm reading in a hold or at hold, Old English. And the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem. And David longed and said, Oh, that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate. And the three mighty men broke through the host of the Philistines and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate, and took it and brought it to David. Nevertheless, he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the Lord, and he said, Be it far from me, O Lord, that I should do this. Is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? Therefore, he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men. You know, this is loyalty. Their general, their leader, their commander needed something. He requested for it. He wished, or rather, he longed for it, and they looked at themselves and they went through the troops. For a moment, just imagine it. The garrison, the people that they fought through just to get maybe a drink of water for their commander. What strength? How would you describe that? What sort of loyality is this? How would you describe that? Well, I will go on. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred and slew them, and had the name among three. Was he not most honorable of three? There's a question. Therefore he was their captain. How be it, he attained not unto the first three. And Beniah, the son of Jehovah, the son of the son of a valiant man, Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lion-like men of Moab. He went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of winter. Now, these guys were relieving, in my opinion, the energy of their leader. Because their leader slew a lion, slew a bear, slew a giant. You'll hear soon. So they were more or less like in his universe, in his own verse, because David created a verse. And that verse, I mean, went across so many timelines. See the way they describe that. See the way scripture described that. Always fascinating. Each time I read it, always fascinating because they believed in the leader. They believed in him. Now, now let us see the next. And he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man. An Egyptian had a spear in his hand, but he went down to him with a staff and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand and slew him with his own spear. Just like David took Goliath, his sword, and slew him. The same thing. Now, like I told you, these stories, these stories tickle my imagination. They I go back in time, I try to imagine the kind of people David had around him. As a leader, he inspired hope. As a leader, he inspired loyalty.

SPEAKER_01

As a leader, he inspired strength. As a leader, he inspired trust and truth.

SPEAKER_00

He inspired nationhood in these men. And they they believed in him.

SPEAKER_01

They believed in his belief system. They believed in what he believed in.

SPEAKER_00

And he gave them that, would I say opportunity to execute?

SPEAKER_01

And they did it. Like I said, that's what I came to do.

SPEAKER_00

How do you read stories? How do you look at stories? And how do you look at that future you inspire? I mean, you are aspiring for who has occupied it, who has lived it, who has been there, who has walked that path, who has paid the price.

SPEAKER_01

Are you willing to bring yourself under the influence of such a person? Are you?

Follow The Show And Farewell

SPEAKER_00

Well, if you are, the price has been paid. And that's what I see in this story. The mighty men of David. Did you see the adjective? The mighty men of David. Do you see how they are tied? Do you see the reference? Yep. So that thing you want to become, that thing you want to do. I just want you to know that someone has done it before. If you can take your time to read the story of that person, two could do mighty things, if not more. It reminds me of what Jesus said to the disciples. He said, These things you will do and much more. Because I have done them. I have done them. Alright, guys. This is what I came to do on the show today. You know how we say it.
